Call for candidates for Technical Section members

(24th August 2015)

The Latest Presidium, Executive and Technical board meeting at St. Petersburg decided to call for Candidates of Technical Sections member until 31 December 2015. However, the candidates should be proposed by the members of each Section. The lists of proposed candidates will be reviewed by the Presidium and the Executive Board. The result will be submitted to the General Assembly during the CIGR Conference 2016 for approval.

The aspirants for the TS membership are also requested to review Section VII, Nr. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Article 14 of the CIGR Statutes prior to their application.

Call for candidates for Incoming President and Secretary General of CIGR

The proposal of iAABE under the umbrella of CIGR was presented to the CIGR Presidium on 3 September 2013 during the 5th International Conference in Prague, Czech. It was subsequently approved by the 68th Executive Board Meeting of CIGR. The proposal was finally rectified by the 53rd General Assembly of CIGR on 17 September 2014 during the 18th World Congress of CIGR held in Beijing, China. Statutes for iAABE were proposed.

The CIGR Secretariat for 2014-2017 assumes its tenure on January 1, 2014. It is headed by Dr. Mikio Umeda, Professor at the Kyoto University, as the CIGR Secretary General. The CIGR Secretariat is hoping for a kind and constructive cooperation from the officers and members of the Commission for the success of their future undertakings especially the efficient and effective dissemination of agricultural and biosystems engineering technologies and innovations as well as more advanced knowledge on agricultural and biosystems engineering around the globe.

Election announcement Call for nomination for CIGR next Incoming President

As the Secretary General of CIGR, I would like to notify that, in 2014, CIGR is going to hold election for the next Incoming President. His/her presidential term will be 2015-2020 (Incoming President 2015-2016, President 2017-2018, Past President 2019-2020).

I am pleased to invite nominations for candidates for the next Incoming President.

CIGR has set up the Search Committee for this election. Nominations should be made by member societies of CIGR and sent by e-mail to the Search Committee ( stouttamu@yahoo.com ) not later than 31 January, 2014. Application form can be downloaded here.

Call for Candidate Site for the 5th CIGR International Conference in 2020

The CIGR International Conference, which is the biggest event next to CIGR World Congress among the CIGR activities, is held every four years to convene agricultural and biosystems engineers and associated professionals from all parts of the world.

CIGR Presidium is calling for letterEEof interest by the parties interested in hosting the 5th CIGR International Conference in 2020. National or Regional Member of CIGR which fulfills the responsibilities of CIGR (payment of the membership dues, for example) can propose to host this significant event by presenting the hosting city.

The last Conference was held in July, 2012 at Valencia, Spain and the next Conference will be held on 26-29 June 2016 at Aarhus, Denmark.

Please direct the proposal or inquiry to the General Secretariat of CIGR cigr-gs2014@elam.kais.kyoto-u.ac.jp.

  • June, 2014: Deadline for proposal of a host city
  • July, 2014: Applications to be surveyed by CIGR Presidium
  • August, 2014: Selection of one final candidate city by CIGR Presidium(If necessary, CIGR will hold a meeting for all the candidate representatives to make presentation before CIGR Presidium.)
  • May, 2014: Implementation of election

CIGR Call for CIGR Award Candidates 2014

Every two years CIGR awards the persons who have made valuable contributions to the development of CIGR. The next recognitions will be given at the next CIGR World Congress to be held in Beijing, China 16-19 September, 2014.

In accordance with the bylaws 'CIGR Awards and Prizes' of 2012, the CIGR awards fall within the following categories:

Awards:

    1. CIGR Merit Award: The award is given to persons who have contributed in various positions to the successful work of CIGR. Candidates are presented by the Technical Section Boards and the CIGR Award and Prize Committee.
    2. CIGR Honor Award: It is an Award established and managed by CIGR for CIGR ex-officers who made remarkable achievements during their mandate. The following titles as a special certificate may be grante Honorary President Honorary Vice President Honorary Member Candidates are presented by the CIGR Presidium.
    3. CIGR Fellow Award: The title CIGR Fellow is assigned to individuals, who have contributed and who continue to contribute to the world wide activity of CIGR. A candidate must have been active for at least ten years and played a key role for CIGR, and candidates are presented by the Technical Section Boards.
    4. CIGR Recognition (Presidential Citation): The award is donated to persons recognizing their outstanding contribution to the success of CIGR over years. It can be granted as: Certificate of Contribution Certificate of Achievements Certificate of Presentation The persons or organizations must have made major contributions to the organization of CIGR World Congresses or International Conferences. Candidates are presented by the Congress or Conference organizers or other suitable persons.
    5. CIGR National/Regional Awards: The national/regional association decides and proposes this to the CIGR Award and Prize Committee.

    Awards:

    1. CIGR Armand Blanc Prize: It is granted to young authors (under 30 years) for presentation of outstanding papers. The candidates are selected by the Congress/Conference organizing committee in consultation with the CIGR Award and Prize Committee or its Chairperson.
    2. CIGR Journal Prize: The prize is given to authors who have published excellent papers in the Agricultural Engineering International: The CIGR Journal of Scientific Research and Development. The candidates are selected by the CIGR Journal editor in cooperation with the seven CIGR Section editors in consultation with the CIGR Award and Prize or its Chairperson.

CIGR Backs Up International Events!

CIGR backs up international events (congresses, conferences, symposiums, etc) in the following three ways.

1. CIGR Sponsored Events

  • CIGR takes the CIGR Sponsored Events very important. CIGR would back up the CIGR Sponsored Events in more various ways than other two events noted bellow, like by sending the delegate (CIGR Presidium, for example) to the event or scheduling the CIGR business meetings during the event, if applicable.
  • The organizer and CIGR have to make an agreement regarding several important matters such as payment of levies and etc beforehand. After the event, the organizer will pay the levies to CIGR based on the agreement.
  • The CIGR Sponsored Events have to be allowed by CIGR Executive Board meeting, beforehand. The organizer is advised to send the request for the CIGR Sponsored Event to CIGR not later than 1 year before.
  • CIGR will allow the organizer to use CIGR's name and Logo as a sponsor.
  • CIGR will introduce the event in the event calendar of CIGR website as well as in CIGR Newsletter.
  • After the event, the organizer has to send the report to CIGR Secretary General. This report will be presented in CIGR Newsletter.

2. CIGR Supported Events

  • CIGR will allow the organizer to use CIGR's name and Logo as a supporter.
  • CIGR will introduce the event in the event calendar of CIGR website as well as in CIGR Newsletter if requested.
  • After the event, the organizer has to send the report to CIGR Secretary General. This report will be presented in CIGR Newsletter.

3. Other Events

  • CIGR will introduce the event in the event calendar of CIGR website.
  • Please send CIGR Secretary General an e-mail to inform the event and request for introduction in CIGR website.

How to get your event sponsored/supported by CIGR

  • The event can be sponsored/supported by CIGR, when a CIGR national (or regional) member or CIGR Section (or Working Group) hosts or co-organizes the event.
  • Please send CIGR Secretary General an e-mail of request for the sponsorship/support beforehand.
  • After gaining the approval from CIGR Presidium, CIGR Secretary General will notify the applicant of the approval.

3rd CIGR International Conference of Agricultural Engineering: "CIGR-AgEng2012"

Thank you to everyone who contributed to and participated in CIGR-AgEng2012. CIGR-AgEng2012 was held in Valencia, Spain 7-12 July, 2012. The conference brought together over 1000 participants from around the world.

1. The XIX CIGR World Congress in 2018 The CIGR World Congress is held every four years to convene Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers and associated professionals from all parts of the world, and it is the most important among the CIGR activities. The CIGR Presidium is calling for a letter of interest by the parties interested in hosting the XIX CIGR World Congress in 2018. The last congress was held in June, 2010 at Quebec, Canada and the next congress will be held on 16-19 September 2014 at Beijing, China.

2. The CIGR Sponsored event in 2013 The CIGR Sponsored event is an event that CIGR takes to co-organize or sponsor. The CIGR Presidium is calling for a letter of interest by the parties interested in organizing the CIGR sponsored workshop, symposium, or conference in 2013. In the past, several events were held in sponsorship of CIGR, let alone recently held (September 2011) the CIGR International Symposium 2011 in Tokyo, Japan. After the event, levies need to be paid and the report needs to be sent to the General Secretariat of CIGR.

Deadline Looming Call for CIGR Award Candidates 2012 (appended on 18/Aug/2011)

Every two years CIGR awards people who have made valuable contributions to development of CIGR. The next recognitions will be given at the next CIGR International Conference to be held in cooperation with EurAgEng in Valencia, Spain 8-12 June 2012.

In accordance with the document: CIGR Awards and Prizes of 2009, the CIGR awards fall within the following categories:

  1. CIGR Merit Award: Candidates are nominated by Technical Section Boards and the CIGR Award and Prize Committee. The award is given to persons who have contributed to the successful work of CIGR and to further its mission.
  2. CIGR Honor Award: Candidates are CIGR ex-officers, presented by the CIGR Presidium.
  3. CIGR Fellow Award: Candidates are nominated by Technical Section Boards. The title of CIGR Fellow is assigned to individuals who have made outstanding contributions.
  4. CIGR Recognition (Presidential Citation): Candidates are e.g. individuals who contribute with outstanding papers at a CIGR activity.
  5. CIGR National/Regional Awards: National and regional societies may present awards to their members during the CIGR Award ceremony.

Prizes:

  1. CIGR Armand Blanc Prize: Candidates are young researchers. The Prizes are given to increase their motivation for working with CIGR activities.
  2. CIGR Journal Prize: Candidates are selected by the CIGR Journal Editor in cooperation with the seven CIGR Section editors.
  3. Industrial awards and prizes in agreement with actual sponsors.
