International Symposium on New Approaches in Irrigation, Drainage and Flood Control Management
This event will be held on 12-15 May 1999 in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. The symposium which is sponsored by ICID will be focused on new solutions for land and water management in the Central and Eastern European countries under the transitional conditions as well as to appropriate strategies to promote water management policies for the benefits of environment, society and economy.

International Congress on Regulations in Animal Production in Europe
This congress will be held in Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Germany on 9-12 May 1999. It is organised by the Kuratorium für Technik und Bauwesen in der Landwirtschaft KTBL. The purpose of this congress is to present and compare the legislative framework in Europe and the transformation of EC animal production regulations into national law.
The major topics to be discussed in various sections will be water pollution, emission control, farm planning and animal welfare.
The objectives of this congress are :
- to provide an overview on regulations and differences among EC Member States
- to reveal economic consequences on farm level as well as on regional and national levels
- to conclude recommendations for further planning in politics.
