EFITA/99 - 2nd European Conference of the "European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA)"

Third International Workshop on Sustainable Land Use Planning

Fragmentation and Land Use Planning: ANALYSIS AND BEYOND

This event will be held on 19-21 June, 2000 in Wageningen, The Netherlands.

It is organised by: Land Use Planning Group, Wageningen University, The Netherlands and in cooperation with the DLO Winand Staring Centre, Wageningen, The Netherlands Government Service for Land and Water Use, Utrecht, The Netherlands and the Society for Land and Water Use in The Netherlands. The event is under the auspices of the International Commission of Agricultural Engineering (CIGR) and the International Studygroup on Multiple Use of Land (ISOMUL).

The workshop "Fragmentation and Land Use Planning: Analysis and beyond" aims to address the problems of spatial fragmentation within different land use systems and the challenges to approach these problems through proper methods of land use planning. Therefore, the workshop focuses on two themes:

I. Analysis of the magnitude, causes and types of fragmentation and its resulting problems

II. Methods of land use planning to control or correct these problems
