2nd IFAC/CIGR International Workshop on Bio-Robotics, Information Technology and Intelligent Control for Bioproduction Systems
This event will be held on 25-26 November, 2000 in Osaka, Japan. The workshop aims at providing a forum for presenting new approaches and results on bioproduction robots including many kinds of automated or autonomous machine systems with or without manipulators, information-oriented technology to deal with variability, and technology intelligence for bioproduction systems.

XIV Memorial CIGR World Congress 2000
The XIV CIGR World Congress will be held on 28 November - 1 December 2000 at the University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan. This Congress is sponsored by CIGR and the Science Council of Japan and organised by the Japan Association of the International Commission of Agricultural Engineering and the University of Tsukuba in co-operation with AAAE, ALIA, ASAE, EurAgEng and SEASAE. 11th Members’ Meeting of
the Club of Bologna
The meeting is divided into two parts. The first part will take place in Bologna, Italy, from 19-20 November 2000, whereas the second part will be held on occasion of the XIV Memorial CIGR World Congress in Tsukuba City, Japan, from 26-27 November 2000. The meeting is sponsored by UNACOMA, and it is held under the auspices of CIGR. Topics will include:
* New technologies and methods for the evaluation of the quality of perishable agricultural products for the fresh market
* Ethical aspects in manufacturing agricultural machines

19th European Regional Conference of ICID "Sustainable Use of Land and Water"
The conference will take place from 4-8 June 2001 in the Congress Centre Brno in Brno and in Prague, Czech Republic. It is organised by ICID under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic with the help of CIGR Section 1 "Land and Water Use" and EurAgEng Field of Interest "Soil and Water". Conference languages will be English, French, Czech, and Slovak (with simultaneous translation).
The conference will focus on problems of sustainable developments in Europe. Such developments should guarantee an acceptable quality of the environment, competent protection and rational exploitation of natural resources (in particular, soil and water) and an efficient conservation or, if necessary, restoration of the landscape as an environment for people to live in. Activities will include the control of soil-water regime, flood control, erosion control, revitalisation of streams and reservoirs and, in general, all land improvement and land reclamation measures, including irrigation. Subtopics will be:
* Minimisation of impacts of extreme hydrological events in Europe
* Exploitation of irrigation and drainage systems in Europe and elsewhere
* Principles of water management and agricultural policies of the European Union

4th IFAC/CIGR International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture AIA 2001
The meeting will take place from 6-8 June 2001 in Budapest, Hungary. It is organised by the Department of Physics and Process Control, Gödöllö University of Agricultural Sciences, and by the Process Control Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences – GUAS. International Conference on "Sustainable Soil Management for Environmental Protection: Soil Physical Aspects"
This Conference will be held on 2–7 July, 2001 in Florence, Italy. It is organized by the Institute for the Study and Conservation of the Soil of Florence, in cooperation with: CIGR Section I: Land and Water Use, IUSS (International Union of Soil Science) Commission I: Soil Physics, EurAgEng Field of Interest SW: Soil and Water, European Soil Bureau. The main topics are:

* Soil hydrology
* Modelling and Databases.
A study tour will be scheduled to the Experimental Centre of the Institute. The conference language will be English.

"Animal Welfare Considerations in Livestock Housing Systems"
The meeting will take place from 22-24 October 2001 at the Technical University of Zielona Góra, Poland. It is supported by CIGR Section II, the Polish Committee of Agricultural Engineering, the Agricultural University of Wroclaw, and the Technical University of Zielona Góra. The symposium language will be English, and the main topics of the symposium will be:
