Joint KTBL-CIGR Seminar on
the Use of Containers
The seminar will be held on 10 April 2001 in Gießen, Germany. It is organised by the Institut für Landtechnik, Gießen. In the morning sessions, the seminar will deal with logistical problems arising during cereal harvest and show possible strategies to overcome them. Furthermore, technical characteristics and transport performance of containers and container vehicles will be shown, and an overview of available container services will be given. A farmer will report on the use of containers for potato harvesting and storage. To finish presentations, a discussion of the subject will be held between experts and participants. The second part of the day will be devoted to a practical harvest demonstration of container handling by container trucks and a specialised container trailer for tractors. Interested persons should contact the Institut für Landtechnik to receive the final invitation issued by KTBL. The language of the seminar will be German.

6th International ATW-Symposium "Plant Protection for Wine and Fruit Cultivation"
The Symposium, which is co-sponsored by CIGR and which will be one of the supporting acts during INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA 2001, will take place from 15-16 May, 2001. The development of new application techniques in fruit and wine cultivation on the one hand and a world-wide growing interest in environmental protection on the other are the reasons why the German Committee for Winegrowing Technique (ATW) wishes to re-discuss and review the results of the symposium on plant protection of 1989. Since aspects and methods of plant protection for winegrowing and fruit cultivation are very similar, the 6th ATW_Symposium aims at bringing into focus both sectors.
