Prof. O. Kitani elected as ASAE Fellow
Prof. Osamu Kitani, professor emeritus with the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Tokyo has been elected a Fellow of ASAE, the Society for Engineering in Agricultural, Food and Biological Systems.
He was honoured at ASAE's Annual International Meeting which was held in Chicago, Illinois (USA) on June 18-23, 1995.
Prof. Kitani is president-elect of the International Commission of Agricultural Engineering and president of the Japanese Society of Agricultural Machinery. His distinguished career has left an impressive mark on the world of agricultural engineering. Kitani, s research in soil dynamics as related to tillage machinery is widely recognized. He is considered a leader in the areas of solar energy and biomass, system and information engineering in agriculture, and international activities for small-scale farm mechanization. An outstanding tutor, Kitani's ease in communicating with people from all walks of life, coupled with his effectiveness as a leader, have greatly benefited the profession.

Report of the Board Meeting of Section V of CIGR
The Board of Section V of CIGR met on the occasion of the XXVIth CIOSTA - CIGR V Congress in Lillehammer.
Following decisions were taken by the Board:
- The proposal to organise a workshop on 'Systems Engineering, at the AgEng '96 Conference at Madrid has been accepted by all the Board members present. The aim of this workshop is to offer an opportunity to present different examples of practical applications of SE.
In addition, I have been asked to try to find a specialist in industrial management who is able to translate his SE knowledge into our field of work and willing to give us a hand in starting further activities.
- The next meeting of the Section Board is planned on Sunday 22 September l996 at Madrid. However, it would be more appropriate to hold the workshop on SE on Monday 23 September.
- A new Working Group of CIGR Section V on 'Farm Planning on Internet, has been set up. Its chairman is Jan Achten from IMAG-DLO, Wageningen (NL). He is going to work out a first activity plan which will be sent to all parties interested after the summer holidays.
- The next CIOSTA-CIGR V Congress will be organised by Prof. Dr. G. Szeles at Pannon University, Kaposvar, Hungary. This will be held late August - beginning of September l997.

Dr Simalenga, new manager of AGROTEC
Prof. S.U. Skarp, Technical Manager of AGROTEC, UNDP/OPS Programme on Agricultural Operations Technology for Small Holders in East and Southern Africa has completed his mission with Agrotec. Agrotec Training Officer Dr. T.E. Simalenga will take over the responsibility of the Agrotec office from I July l 995 .
George J. Kriz, New President of ASAE
As per July 1 1995 Mr George J. Kriz assumes leadership of ASAE. President-elect is Mr Allen R. Rider while Mr Gail E. Janssen is now Past President of ASAE.

Prof. G. Pellizzi honoured
Prof. Giuseppe Pellizzi, Past President of CIGR was honoured during the 1995 Annual International Meeting of ASAE in Chicago, USA for 'his leadership in making CIGR a truly global network of agricultural engineers'.
Sadly enough Prof. Pellizzi was unable to attend the International Meeting.

Ghana Society of Agricultural Engineering reorganised
On the occasion of the latest National Conference on Agricultural Engineering the Ghana Society of Agricultural Engineering was reorganised. Another National Conference is scheduled for 22-26 September 1996 on the theme: 'Engineering for a Sustainable Environment'.
