International Workshop on Renewable Energy Application to Plantation and Other Industries

This Workshop will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology IIT, in Madras on 9 - 11 April 1997. It will address the many bottlenecks in the appropriate utilisation of renewable energy technologies.

20th International Conference of Section IV of CIGR Rural Electrification and Rationalisation of the Use of Energy in Agriculture

This conference will be held in Agadir, Morocco on 21-25 April 1997 and is organised by ANAFID

(Association Nationale des Améliorations Fonçières, de l'Irrigation et du Drainage) and the 'Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II'.

Themes of the Conference are:

Rationalisation of Energy

Languages: French and English with simultaneous translation.
A one-day and two-day technical visit are foreseen.

International Symposium on Concrete for a Sustainable Agriculture, agro-, aqua-, and community applications

This symposium organised by the Norwegian Masonry- and Concrete Centre in co-operation with the Norwegian CIGR and supported by Cembureau, BIBM, ERMCO and CIGR will be held in Stavanger, Norway on May 21-24, 1997.

Purpose of the symposium is to bring together experts in the field of agricultural engineering, concrete producers, both precast and cement manufacturers to discuss the latest developments in

This is an excellent occasion to meet colleagues and to exchange experiences, solve problems, ask questions, enlarge your field of knowledge and create your own international network.

The symposium will focus on environmental, technical and technological items as well as on product development, market and economy in utilisation of concrete in agro-, aqua-, and community applications.

The main subjects will be:

Market issues: market and market potentials, development, products and systems, applications incl. community applications and land based fish breeding.

Product issues: loads, environmental and other strains, damages, performances, material property requirements, design and construction with respect to durability, repair and reconstruction, surface treatment.

Proceedings: The individual papers presented at the symposium will be published in the Proceedings which will be distributed to the participants.

Workshop on : The Use of Water in Sustainable Agriculture. A Commitment to Development and Environmental Protection

This workshop which focuses especially on semi-arid areas will be held in Albacete, Spain on 2-4 June 1997. It is organised by the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenieros Agronomos and the University of Castilla - La Mancha and is sponsored by CIGR.

The main topics are:

  1. Water as limiting factor for development (in the beginning of the 21st century)
  2. Irrigation and economic development . Water and agricultural production
  3. Social aspects of irrigation
  4. Markets for water.
  5. Environmental impact of irrigation
  6. Scarcity problems. Integrated use of water resources
  7. Global climate change and irrigation
  8. Quality problems. The use of saline water and waste water
  9. Other environmental effects. Water contamination, soil degradation, effects on animals and vegetation, etc.
  10. Water management in sustainable agriculture
  11. Efficient use of water
  12. Irrigation management under scarcity conditions
  13. Technological efforts in designing and managing irrigation zones
  14. Modernisation and rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage systems.

Language: English.

Following the workshop a full day study tour will be organised to irrigation zones of Albacete.

Hotel accommodation will be made available in Albacete.

Joint International Conference on Agricultural Engineering: Agricultural Engineering for Sustainable Development

This conference will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 15-18 December 1997.

Workshop on The Use of Water in Sustainable Agriculture. A Commitment to Development and Environmental Protection (with special regard to semi-arid areas)

This workshop is conceived to think over the water management as the most important challenge that agricultural scientists and technicians have to face at the beginning of next century. It will take place in the Advanced Technical School of Agricultural Engineering, Albacete, Spain on 2-4 June 1997.

1st European Conference on Precision Agriculture

1997 Beijing International Symposium on Food Processing and Packaging Technology - '97 BISFPPT

The 1997 Beijing International Symposium on Food Processing and Packaging Technology will be held in Beijing, P.R. of China from October 27, 1997 till October 31, 1997.

It is sponsored by the Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery, The Packing and Food Processing Engineering Institution and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. Co-sponsors are the Chinese Packaging and Food Machinery Corporation, the Chinese Food and Packaging Machinery Industry Association and the 6th Section of CIGR.

The subject matter of the symposium will focus on the exchanging of food, farm and sideline product processing and packaging technology, including their new achievements, new developments and new trends, going further into how to prepare ourselves in being confronted with these new developments.

The symposium will be synchronised with the 1997 International Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Exhibition (CHINA FOODTECH '97).

Call for papers:

Papers written for this symposium should be in line with the subject matter of this symposium. Anyone who intends to publish an article for the symposium should at first write an abstract of less than 400 words (1 page) and sent it to the Secretariat of '97 BISFPPT for examining by the Academic Committee of the Symposium Organising Commission before Jan 31, 1997.

The abstract should include: author's full name, address, working unit, purpose of the research, contents and the main theory from the research, conclusion and the importance of his/her research. If the paper is selected for use after examining the author will be notified by February 28, 1997. The full paper should be delivered by May 31, 1997 together with the pre-registration fee of 80 USD / article.

INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING

XIIIth INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING

Morocco will host the XIIIth Congress of the International Commission of Agricultural Engineering CIGR in February 1998 and hence will be the first developing country to organise such an important scientific and technical event which takes place every four years. The National Association of Land Improvement, Irrigation and Drainage, ANAFID, official representative of Morocco within CIGR has been permanently acting towards the increase of CIGR activities within developing countries and is delighted with the organisation of this congress in Africa.

This congress will be held in Rabat, Morocco on 2 - 6 February 1998. It is organised in collaboration with the Agronomic and Veterinary Institute Hassan II and the Administration of Agricultural Engineering.

The congress sessions will take place at the Rabat Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Congress languages are English and French and simultaneous translation will be provided.

Equipment and documentary technical exhibits will take place during the congress.

A programme of one day technical visits and study tours of one to five days after the congress will be proposed.
