ISAMA 97 - International Symposium on Agricultural Mechanisation and Automation
This event is organised by the Chinese Institute of Agricultural Machinery, Taiwan, Republic of China and will be held from 17 to 21 November 1997 in the Taipei International Convention Centre.
Topics will include:
- Farm machinery manufacture
- Power and machinery
- Information and electrical technologies
- Structure and environment
- Food and processing engineering
- Waste management
- Robotics and control engineering
- Systems engineering
- Automation in agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery production and marketing.
Registration fee: incl. conference attendance, proceedings, refreshments, welcome reception: 200 USD (before 31 July 97), 250 USD (after 31 July 97).

International Seminar NFJ Technia'97: Technology of Cost-Efficient Agricultural Production
This event will be held in Pärnu, Estonia on 22-26 October 1997 and is organised by Section VII 'Agricultural Engineering' of the Nordic Association of Agricultural Scientists (NJF) in co-operation with Estonian partners.
The Opening Session will be devoted to 'Technological co-operation between Baltic and Nordic countries in food production' and will be followed by three parallel sessions :
- Cost-efficient agricultural buildings;
- New crops and methods in field production;
- Production systems in agriculture.
Professional excursions both on arrival and on a specific excursion day are foreseen.
The target group is: scientists, advisors and teachers in agricultural engineering and mechanisation in Nordic, Baltic and other European countries.
Language: English.
A summary of presentations will appear in the journal: 'Nordisk Jordbruksforskning'.
Participation fees (seminar, bus transport from Tallinn-Pärnu-Tallinn, seminar dinner, excl. meals and accommodation): Members of NJF: DKK 1750 - Non-members: DKK 2200.
Seminar place is : Strand Hotel, Pärnu. Synchronised transport from Tallinn will be organised.

11th World Fertiliser Congress of CIEC: Fertilisation for Sustainable Plant Production and Soil Fertility
This World Congress will be held at the University of Gent, Faculty of Agricultural and Applied Biological Sciences, Gent, Belgium on 7-13 September 1997.
There will be six sections viz.
1. Nutrient output by food and non-food plant products;
2. Nutrient losses to water;
3. Nutrients to and from the atmosphere;
4. Nutrient inputs by fertilising materials;
5. Nutrient dynamics in the soil-plant system;
6. Legislative measures on fertilisation.
Congress language: English.
Poster exhibition throughout the Congress.

The 11th Forum for Applied Biotechnology will be held on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th September 1997 at 'Het Pand', Onderbergen 1, Gent, Belgium.

- Industrial biotechnology and biocatalysis,
- Plant biotechnology - plant breeding,
- Food biotechnology - functional foods,
- Modelling, monitoring and control of biotechnological processes,
- Biotechnological waste gas treatment,

This event will be held in New Delhi, India from 25 February till 1 March 1998 and is sponsored by the International Association on Water Quality (IAWQ).

1st International Conference on Rationalisation of Energy in Agriculture ICREA
The 1st International Conference on Rationalisation of Energy in Agriculture will be held at the Department of Agricultural Mechanisation, Mansoura University, El-Mansoura, Egypt, on 17-18 March 1998.
Contributions are invited on any of the following topics:
- New and renewable sources of energy,
- Bio-energy engineering,
- Energy utilisation and management in open field crop production, protected cropping, food processing, poultry and livestock housing,
- Environmental engineering and controls,

10th European Conference and Technology Exhibition on Biomass for Energy and Industry
This event which is organised by CARMEN, the Central Agrarian Raw Material Marketing and Development Network, WIP Munich and ETA Florence, will be held in the Congress Centre Würzburg, Würzburg, Germany on 8-11 June 1998.

7th International Congress of Plant Pathology
This Congress will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland on 9 - 16 August 1998.
The programme will consist of an opening plenary session followed by modular symposia and poster sessions arranged in half-day units and the five major themes will focus on:
- plant-pathogen interactions;
- population biology, ecology and epidemiology;
- plant pathology in practice;
- global perspectives;
- new control options.
An exhibition and field trips and technical tours before, during and after the congress complete the programme. There will also be an accompanying persons programme.

The XXVth International Horticultural Congress from ISHS, will be held in Brussels International Conference and Exhibition Centre, Brussels, on 2-7 August 1998.
