CIGR Awards

In the context of the 2002 XVth CIGR World Congress in Chicago, CIGR will honour a number of its members with awards for their achievements in the research or in the service of CIGR. The CIGR Presidium asks all members to nominate candidates for the awards according to the system outlined below.   1. Objectives
  2. CIGR presents Awards (honour and recognition) to those members who made extraordinary contribution to the world-wide activity of CIGR or achieved remarkable work in agricultural engineering in CIGR World Congress and conferences.

  3. Procedure
  4. The plan for the CIGR Awards is made by the Award Nominating Committee chaired by the Past President. After approved by the Executive Board (approval by mail is also possible), they are presented by the President at the World Congress. The Awardee is, in principle, selected among the participants of the World Congress.

  5. Categories

There are the following categories for the CIGR Awards:

Prizes

Armand BLANC Prize

For students and young members under 30 years old who presented excellent papers at the World Congress (usually shared by three members, with certificate + funding within the budget).

E-Journal Prize

For the author(s) of the Electronic Journal who contributed an excellent paper to the E-Journal Vols. published between the last and current World Congress. The candidate(s) are recommended by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal (no more than three members, with certificate + funding within the budget)

CIGR Merit Award

For those members who achieved remarkable works for CIGR

(No more than 4 members at a time, with plaque).

Industry Prizes

Prizes sponsored by industries and for those who made extraordinary achievements for the development of agricultural engineering related technologies through CIGR activities (one for each prize, with plaque and funding).

Honours

For the CIGR ex-officers who made remarkable achievements.

Fellows

  1. CIGR presents a title of CIGR Fellow to those who have made and will continuously make great contribution to the world-wide activity of CIGR.
  2. A Fellow is nominated from the CIGR members who have been active for normally the last ten years and played key role for CIGR.
  3. A Fellow is nominated by the Award Nominating Committee; after the approval of the Executive Board, the title is offered by the President at the World Congress.

Recognition

Recognition is made by presenting a certificate from the President at the World Congress. They are as follows and nominated by the Award Nominating Committee;

Certificate of Presentation or Participation (especially for students)

Other specific certificates

National/Regional Awards:

The Organisation Committee of the World Congress / conference or the National/Regional Society concerned can prepare special honours and recognition in the name of the organisation and CIGR, in consultation with the Award Nominating Committee, to praise those distinguished people who contributed much to the national or regional activities of CIGR. The honours and recognition can be given either by the President of CIGR or the representative of the National/Regional organisation on the occasion of or after the World Congress / conference. (If the award is given in the name of the CIGR President, approval by the Executive Board is necessary.)
